Monkey see - Monkey do

So.....how do I explain this one?
I have 2 cell phones: one for work & one for personal.
Result: Monkey see - Monkey do!

the latest obsession..............

Marmoset........I thought it was just a monkey????

Go Diego Go!!!!

It's so funny what kids get attached to......especially when you as the parent didn't even introduce them to such things....? Where I am going with this is.....at daycare, a couple of days per week....they will play Dora DVDs for the kids while the parents are picking them up. I suppose????...this is how Gentry got introduced to Diego - Dora's cousin. (It's crazy that I know that???) Secondly, Gentry's cousin - Braydon left a Diego DVD at our house almost 2 years ago when Gentry was a tiny thing. Braydon explained that he wanted to give it to Gentry. (very sweet) So I just put it away....knowing the next time Braydon came for a visit that it would be here for him to watch....

This brings us to present day......one day - Gentry was searching through our abundance of DVDs to find something to watch. I was secretly hoping....anything but Elmo, anything but Elmo.....as a parent, I'm tired of Elmo's high pitched squeaky voice - but he is cute. Low and behold - Gentry pulls out the one and only Diego DVD. I said sure - because I myself have never watched it and thought, "it's not Elmo - so let's go for it!"

Now Diego is apart of our daily life. In the morning - Gentry is asking for Diego. After naps, Gentry is asking for Diego. At dinner, Gentry is asking for Diego, so on and so on....

Lucky for us, Diego is educational....Gentry is learning about different types of animals, and even some spanish. The other day, I looked over Gentry's shoulder as he was watching Diego and I said, "oh look Gentry, a monkey!", he quickly corrected me by saying "No Mommy - that's a Marmoset." A what???? Apparently, a marmoset is the smallest monkey in the rainforest. And they eat tree sap. Boy - do I have a lot to learn?

Either way - I am having a love-hate relationship with Diego. I'm actually missing Elmo.

A Sunday afternoon with Mommy & Daddy....

One Sunday, on the fly - we decided to head to the Children's Museum in Cincinnati, at Union Terminal. It was so much fun. Gentry got to explore different activities, play in the "forest", splish and splash with water, dig in some sand boxes, and more and more....
We finished out our family fun afternoon with a late lunch at Skyline (where else?) . I have to admit - "I'm a planner" I know, I know....a lot of you are shocked by this statement - - - - but it's true. (hahahahaha) But occassionally - it's good to wake up with no plans, no expectations, no worries, and see where the day takes you. Thank you for a great day Robby & Gentry!

Heading to church............

Gentry truly enjoys going to church every Sunday.....
It used to be the excitement of pulling into the church parking lot and seeing the playground. Now it's the excitement of seeing his friends and favorite adult volunteers - like Catelyn. We look forward to the little art projects Gentry creates in Sunday School (as known as Care n' Share), because he is learning God's word at the same time. Just this past Sunday, Gentry was telling me about Noah and the 2 elephants, the 2 zebras, the 2 lions, etc. We are so blessed and thankful for such an amazing place to worship and fellowship with family, friends, and brothers & sisters in Christ.
When I met Robby many, many years ago...I remember him talking about how important his church was to him, how he was raised in the church, and how when he would go home on the weekends - it wasn't complete if he didn't get to go to church and see those familiar faces.
I can only hope that what we enstill in Gentry those same feelings today and moving forward - he will feel the same way in the future.

Hanging out

Just like Daddy....

Gentry wants to be just like Daddy. He watches his daddy get his hair wet in the morning to style it. It's so funny what kids pick up on, because this past Sunday when getting ready for church, Gentry without direction started styling his hair. He's getting to be such a big boy.
