Ever changing....

Gentry is keeping us busy these days.....
Between work, bathtime, grocery shopping, cleaning, and finding time for sleep.....Robby & I can hardly keep up - BUT we wouldn't trade it for the world. Everyone talks about the terrible 2's. And for sure - we have those moments (not days, moments - thank the Lord, I'm sure days are still to come). But what is most exciting is watching Gentry absorb so many new things from new words - shapes - sounds - new activities - etc. Like never before - Gentry wants to do it himself. He finds joy in helping put in a load of laundry and pressing the start button or picking out his pajamas after his night time bath or getting his own big boy pants (diapers), buckling himself into his carseat. I love it. To see him take ownership of things and having opinions about things is so cool. "Boy".....I think I'm going to regret saying that one day. =)
Another awesome thing to watch is seeing him be "all-boy". He loves playing with trucks, cars, and choo-choo trains. He enjoys watching UK basketball, Cincinnati Bengals (even when they lose), and Cincinnati Reds. Just last night, we were watching the Cats and Gentry was so into it. He would cheer at the appropriate times and was so bummed when they would miss a shot. =)
This summer will be very exciting - going to watch Robby playing softball and run around at the park.
Gentry is still a picky eater. I can't say that enough - Gentry is still a picky eater. From time to time - he will surprise us and actually want whatever you are having. But most of the time, whatever we put in front of him - he has zero interest in trying or looking at - for that matter. My mom tells me that I was the same way - I guess this is punishment for driving my mom crazy for so many years being a picky eater as well.
Gentry is doing really well in daycare (school as we call it). He can count to 12, say quite a few of the ABC's, and knows all his shapes.....even hexagon & octagon- I was shocked! He enjoys music and watching Elmo or Diego. His favorite movies are Cars, Stuart Little 1 & 2. He's a big help in the bath tub - he will wash his own hair and rinse himself by dunking the whole cup of water over his head. =) It's hilarious! It gets me excited about summer time and going to the pool. =)
Lastly, potty training is upon us......any advise? We have bought the "real" big boy pants/underwear. But I think we just have to bit the bullet and do it. We'll keep you all posted. I have a feeling a lot of "sheet changing" is in my near future.
Stay tuned....

Siena turns 4!!!!!

We headed to Chuckie Cheese a few weeks ago for Siena's 4th birthday party. Where have the years gone? Even though, Siena recently relocated to Atlanta with her awesome parents - Megan & Brandon....they made their way back to Northern KY to welcome the new addition to the family - their nephew: Daniel Robert Jackson on 1/19/11. Since Siena's birthday was in just a few days.....why not celebrate????
I don't remember the last time I have beent o Chuckie Cheese. But it was not what I remembered at all. It was bright, open, and a good time had by all. They some small scale games perfect for Gentry's size.....We are looking forward to our next visit.

Meeting Daniel (our cousin & our neighbor)

Congratulations to Uncle Jeff & Aunt Katie.....(or Katie-Jeff, as Gentry calls them).
On January 19, 2011, they welcomed a new addition to their family....Daniel Robert Jackson. We are so excited for their blessing, but even more excited that they just across the street. Jeff & Katie have been such a support to us before and after Gentry came into our life. Now, we are excited to be the same support to them. Gentry is very excited about baby Daniel, but I think he'll be even more excited when he can rough-house with him and they can chase each other around. The crazy thing about it all is - that time will be here before we know it.
Another exciting element to the addition of Daniel is that - Great-Grandma Messmer gets to welcome another Great-Grandchild to her life. We are so excited that she is well and able to come for a visit.

Making the best of ALL THIS SNOW!

Do you recall the movie - "A Christmas Story"? If you do, then you have to remember the infamous scene where the youngest son is getting dressed for school. He's in his snowsuit and cannot put his arms down at his side. I crack up just thinkin' about it.
Well....check out our little man....because once we got Gentry ready to go play in the snow the other day......I thought of that very movie moment.
